From the start, AMSOIL has been in charge
In 1968, AMSOIL’s founder, Al Amatuzio, started selling synthetic motor oil that was supposed to be changed every 25,000 miles (40,000 km) or one year. It hurt the wasteful habit of changing the oil every 3,000 miles (4,800 km) or three months.
Today, many lubricant companies have followed AMSOIL’s lead and made their own extended-drain motor oils. Original equipment manufacturers now recommend up to 15,000 miles (24,000 km) between oil changes, or even longer if the car has an electronic oil life monitoring system.
Because of AMSOIL’s innovations, millions of gallons of waste oil haven’t made it into the supply stream. Also, because AMSOIL synthetic lubricants are less volatile, they reduce air pollution from exhaust emissions. They have a strict recycling program at all of our corporate offices, where they recycle most of the things they use, such as:
- Corrugated liner board (cardboard)
- Used drums
- Pallets
- Clean plastic bottles
- Office and glossy paper

- Batteries, light bulbs, oil filters and more
Less than 10% of the waste that AMSOIL makes goes to the dump, and the 400,000-sq.-ft. Every six weeks, there is only one dumpster load of trash at AMSOIL Center.
AMSOIL products come in boxes made from recycled cardboard, which helps the environment in a big way.

AMSOIL's Building does Saves energy Costs
In the winter, AMSOIL heats their building with oil left over from production. This saves money on energy costs. They have a roof that works well and Big Ass Fans that move a lot of air quickly and quietly. They also turned a big part of the AMSOIL Center’s asphalt parking lot into green space. Their Environmental Management System is also registered to the ISO 14001:2004 standard. This shows that they are actively measuring and trying to improve how they affect the environment.

Their concern for the environment is at the heart of how they run their facilities in Superior, Wis., and it’s also a part of what they make.
In normal service, AMSOIL Signature Series Synthetic Motor Oil is guaranteed for 25,000 miles, 700 hours of use, or one year, whichever comes first. In severe service, the guarantee is for 15,000 miles, 700 hours, or one year. Signature Series saves a lot of oil by safely extending the time between oil changes. If every car and light truck in the United States used Signature Series with longer drain intervals, up to 35.7 billion quarts of oil would be taken out of the supply stream.
